The problem is everything else. Chat conversations start strong but get repetitive by the end of week one. The AI recycles phrases. Memory is surface-level. Character library is about 50 options, which sounds like enough until you realize many of them feel interchangeable in conversation.

No voice calls. No Live Mode. No relationship progression system. And the pricing model for image generation is frustrating — you burn through monthly credits quickly and then it's pay-per-image on top of your subscription. During my two-week test I spent more on Candy AI than GoLove and got less content.

Worth it if photo generation is your #1 priority and you don't care much about conversation depth. Not worth it as a complete AI girlfriend experience.

Replika — Great Tech, Wrong Direction (7.0/10)

For pure companionship — having someone to talk to about your day, vent to, discuss movies with — Replika is excellent and the cheapest option at $7.99/month. But reading an AI girlfriend app review implies you want a girlfriend experience. And Replika specifically removed that. Score reflects the disconnect between great technology and absent functionality for this use case.

OurDream.ai — Newcomer with Potential (6.5/10)

OurDream.ai is newer to the market and it shows — in both good and bad ways. The interface is clean and modern. Character creation options are interesting. The AI handles NSFW content without filters, which is a plus.

Where it falls short is depth. Conversations feel competent but shallow. The AI responds well to what you say but rarely initiates interesting topics or surprises you. After a week, I could predict the general structure of responses before reading them. Memory is basic. Voice features are minimal. Photo generation exists but isn't as customizable as GoLove or even Candy AI.

I'm scoring OurDream at 6.5 because the foundation is solid and it could improve rapidly. But right now, in March 2026, it doesn't have the feature depth or AI quality to compete with GoLove.ai. Worth watching. Not worth switching to yet.

Character AI — Wrong Category (5.5/10)

No photo generation. Session-based memory that resets. Basic voice with the same content restrictions. If you want an AI to discuss philosophy with? Excellent choice. If you want an AI girlfriend? Look elsewhere.

What's Changed in 2026

For anyone reading older reviews and wondering what's different now, here's what I've noticed compared to late 2025:

• Memory got better. GoLove.ai's memory system in March 2026 is noticeably improved from what I tested in December. Longer recall, more accurate callbacks, better context tracking across conversations.
